Hello challengers!
Hey all, *
Chris-Bowman here again to introduce the first two week long flashers challenge!
The challenge is based around animation and drawing, and starts NOW!
I could tell you some other stuff, but that comes after, here are the juicy details:
The JUICY details
The requirements for this challenge are to
Design and Animate a character for a 2D fighting game. Animate several instances of the character, such as standing idle, punching, kicking, getting hit, dying, special moves, anything else that comes into your head, be creative!
You can do this in any style (barring stickmen, be reasonable) from the simple, cartoony style of Castle Crashers to the full, mega detailed flowing animation of Guilty Gear, or anything in between you choose!
Note that this will mainly be judged on Animation, so the actual design of the character comes second. You can design the best character in the world but if you don't have it moving, it doesn't count for much.
Other Specifics: The character must be in full colour and output at 25 frames per second. There is no actual need for a background, but think about presentation. A detailed character floating on a white background could be considered..jarring. If you're doing a background, try to compliment the character.
The deadline is on
Sunday the 15th of March at 12:00 GMT. If you wish to enter, upload your swf file to deviantart and
note us here at *
flashers of its whereabouts (comments will be ignored). We will feature every entry here after the deadline passes.
That's all for now, be creative!
And again, remember that if you need help with any aspect of the program or the challenge, pop into
#Flashers and ask around, or if you have questions about the challenge and your entry, feel free to note me: *
Chris-BowmanThe Rewards

You will also have you and your work featured in the all new monthly news articles we will be creating simply to showcase the winners and select pieces from their gallery, bringing your entry and that of the runners-up to the attention of the whole site!
And as before, aside from that substantial pat on the back, you'll have something cool to show off to your friends or put in your portfolio. And remember this is happening every two weeks!
Have fun everyone!

Can I code it so the character is controlable for my entry?
A:
You can do that, yes, but it's not neccessary, and won't be taken into account when it comes to judging the entry.
Devious Comments
And BTW how about ragdolls?

There is only a Flash between the past and future, and exactly that is what I call life at least for Flasher/Scripter/Designer
I support DA Sound Dimension [link]
Though, I'm also curious if the character has to be a human one. Are we allowed to make let's say a dragon or chat character?
